ECHOES OF LOST VENUS
Analog video union VOL 5
Theme: Lost and Found
Artwork: Echoes of Lost Venus
Sound design and vision by Egle Saka. 2023
"Echoes of Lost Venus" reflects a rediscovery of a meaningful image from my past art projects. The female Venus figure was a frequent theme in my early screen prints, symbolizing a muse and goddess. Over time, the meaning behind her presence in my work has changed. After being forgotten for a while, I found inspiration again in her for this new piece.
The journey of this image started with a photo of a small Venus sculpture in my garden (circa 2016). After taking pictures, I used analog glitch gear to process them for a print edition. Later, I reworked this image into a video and sound art piece, adding more layers to the story of "Echoes of Lost Venus."

LAST TV SUPPER
Analog Video Union VOL.2
Theme: TV PARTY
Sound Design and vision by Egle Saka 2023
Last TV supper by Egle Saka is a 3D scan of an audiovisual installation made in real life.
Part of an artist residency programme at “ISKROVOS” festival in Panevezys, Lithuania, July 2023.
The installation consists of a life feed CCTV camera and a collection of old CRT monitors and various other screens found in an abandoned industrial building where the residency took place. With the goals of repurposing the unused post-soviet buildings into creative hubs for artists to gather and explore their creative practices.
The camera here is the main source of input running through all of the screens. Using analog video mixers, glitch boxes and analog video feedback techniques, the viewer sees their own self image distorted and glitched across the long table of screens. Egle believes that through glitch art, one can achieve a deeper dive into visceral layers of the surface self and exoplore the ever more hidden noise inside ones identity.
This installation invites the viewer to contemplate their own self image and identity in relation to the abandoned environment in present times. Accompanied by an experimental soundscape made using distorted field recordings and modular synthesis, the installation space becomes an immersive meditative/contemplative space for the viewer to explore their own boundaries of perception and perhaps have the experience of a last supper with the shadow self reflections seen on screens.
